How it works

The mechanism is the trust. If you can follow it, you do not have to take our word for anything — and you can see exactly which step is missing.

  1. 1

    You pick a file

The browser hands the tool a copy in memory. No request is made.

  2. 2

    Your CPU does the work

A Web Worker runs the operation off the main thread, so the page stays responsive.

  3. 3

    You save the result

Download the finished file, or continue into the next tool with a temporary copy on this device.

  4. 4

    Upload to our server

Not implemented. There is no endpoint to call.

Your file → our server → back to younever happens

What we can't do in your browser

Four things genuinely need a server. We would rather name them than quietly route your file somewhere and hope you don't check.

Features that are not ready are clearly marked. The live local tools do not send your documents to a server. Public web-page conversion is separate and would send the URL you enter.

Web page to PDF
A browser is not allowed to fetch another site — the rules that stop other sites reading your data stop us reading theirs. No file of yours is involved, so we fetch the page ourselves.
PDF/A validation
We can convert to PDF/A here, and refuse when a document cannot honestly claim it. Proving conformance is different: the only complete validator is veraPDF, which is Java.
Certified digital signatures
Signing a document so tampering is detectable needs a timestamp authority and a revocation check. Those are network calls by definition. The visual signature tool here is a different thing, and says so.
Table extraction from unruled layouts
Pulling a table out of a page that has no ruling lines takes a layout model far too large to send to a tab.

Pick a file. Shape the result.
Keep it private.

Every local tool keeps the document in the browser tab. When you save, you take the result with you. Continuing a workflow uses a temporary local copy you can clear at any time.
